Do you charge extra when the couch is upstairs?

Picked up a sleeper sofa from a second floor apartment this morning. Customer said regular couch on the phone. One flight of stairs, tight turn at the bottom, no elevator. Me and my brother got it out but it took almost an hour and threw off the next pickup. Do you have a set stairs fee or just add it into the price? I charged my normal curbside minimum which was definitely a mistake lol. Also what are you asking before you get there so you know it's a sleeper?

Ask them to lift the cushions and send a pic. People say regular couch because to them it is a regular couch. I ask about stairs, parking and how far it is to the truck before I give a number.

Sleeper sofa plus that turn would be a different price for me. I usually ask for a quick video from the furniture all the way to the door. The stairs aren't always the worst part, it's that little landing halfway down.

I add $50 for a flight of stairs on a heavy piece. Tell them before loading anything. You and your brother working an hour for curbside money is the problem right there

I don't do a flat stairs fee. Easy straight stairs with a light couch isn't the same job as what you just described. Quote the time and people you actually need. And leave some room between appointments, learned that one the hard way.
