How do you stop small pickups from eating your whole day?

Yesterday I had three small pickups, nothing bigger than a couch, and somehow spent most of the day driving. One was on the east side, one across town, then back near the first one. All three customers wanted a morning slot of course. Are you setting certain days for certain areas or just fitting people in wherever you can? I'm still small enough that I hate turning down a job, but the $95 recliner pickup doesn't look so good after an hour in traffic.
